EU-China HPCN industrial initiative
Amsterdam, 17-02-1997An EU-China HPCN industrial initiative has been set up to raise awarenessof the European technology and expertise in China inform the European business community about market opportunities and offera business forum to establish direct contacts between European and Chinese partners. During 1997 several activities in China and Europe will be organised.
HPCN is a crucial technology for European industrial and scientific competitiveness. The use of HPCN systems for commercial applications is expected to be taken up vigorously in the second half of the decade, both in Europe and in emerging economies. It is of strategic importance to both European and Chinese industry.
The GEIE-ERCIM Consortium of leading European Computer Science institutes has taken the initative for a "EU-China HPCN Initative" to foster business,industrial and technological co-operation between European operators in this high-tech sector. The initative is sponsored by the European Commission,the Chinese authorities and Chinese and European private companies.
Expected results from this initative are:
- Raising awareness of European technology and expertise in China;
- Informing the European business community about market opportunities in China;
- Offering a business forum to establish direct contacts between European and Chinese partners.
The initative covers areas such as multimedia, simulation and design, embedde d systems, information management and networking.
During 1997 several workshops will be organised both in Europe and China.
