Codine release 4.2 is a job management system which allows a large number of workstations, smp and MPP machines to be treated as one cluster, were users can transparantly submit jobs. Codine distributes them in a balanced way amongst the available resources.
GRD release 1.2 takes the Codine functionallity one step further by adding shared based resource management, which gives computing centres the possibillity to garantee the availability of resources to departments and users according to company defined policies.
The newly added "Consumble Resources" feature allows a fin grainde way of managing software licensces, tape drives SSD and disk space.
Software Licences can be administered by Codine which gives the out on the job that needs them. Codine can manage them on the cluster, host or que level.
The Calendar feature is designed situations were the computer resources are treated differently during working hours and nigth time/weekends. Queues for very large jobs can for instance be put on hold during day time giving them maximum available resources during the other hours. This works automatically, so the system administrator does not have to activiate and deactivate resources each day.
Recently, Genias announced large Codine installation at Sandia Laboratories. The system includes a 64 processor Origion 2000, and clusters with 33 Pentium and 136 Alpha processors running Linux, all under control of Codine.
