Siemens Nixdorf is ready to ship the Microsoft Cluster Server
Paderborn, 31 October 97
Siemens Nixdorf is ready to supply the "Microsoft Cluster Server", previously known as Wolfpack. The Microsoft Cluster Server software module is part of the latest Microsoft Windows NT Server Enterprise Edition 4.0 and has been tested on Siemens Nixdorf's Intel-based Primergy 560 and 760 models.
According to Siemens Nixdorf this integration of hardware and software will meet requirements in terms of scalability, availability and distribution of processing load. Other major components of NT Server/E include "MS Transaction Server" and "MS Message Queue Server". NT Server/E is ready to ship immediately. Siemens Nixdorf provides consulting, training and support for its customers and partners when installing and operating this system on Windows NT.
Key system components were qualified by Microsoft ahead of live tests of the new software on Primergy servers fitted with up to four Pentium Pro processors of 200 MHz. These components include RAID disk subsystems (Redundant Array of Independent Disks), network cards and magnetic disk drives. All the released products are listed in Microsoft's "Hardware Compatibility List".
The Microsoft Cluster Server represents another stage in the cooperation (Enterprise Business Partnership) between Microsoft and Siemens Nixdorf. This aims to widen the access route for Windows NT to corporate IT applications in the enterprise computing sector, and to establish this operating system for use in other business-critical environments.
