A million credit card transactions in five hours
Palo Alto, 03 November 97
PaySys International and Sun Microsystems released results of internal performance tests demonstrating that VisionPLUS on the Sun Enterprise Server platform completed in excess of one million credit card transactions in less than five hours. VisionPLUS is the latest credit card management software from Paysys.
The series of tests, co-developed by Sun and PaySys and conducted at Sun's testing facilities in Menlo Park, California included processing and posting a simulated card portfolio on a Sun Enterprise 6000 server. In other results, sub-second, on-line transaction processing responsiveness was recorded at a rate of 20 transactions per second.
VisionPLUS, licensed by approximately 45 credit card operations, was first introduced for the mainframe in late 1995. The Solaris version, which was completed in early 1997, is scheduled for installation at two card operations in Chile and at a major bank in Indonesia. VisionPLUS also is available for the AS/400 platform.
PaySys, developers of the CardPac for banks and the VISION21 for retailers, employs over 400 people, and has offices in Orlando, Atlanta, Columbus, Melbourne, Australia, Singapore and Dublin.
