The International Supercomputer Conference, the leading supercomputing event in Europe, will combine a strong line-up of technical experts in the field of HPC with exhibits from leading supercomputing centres, as well as hardware and software vendors. ISC presents state-of-the-art applications, architectures and trends in supercomputing. As a result, this HPC event has created a unique atmosphere of collaboration and co-operation.

The Workshop provides a forum for engineers and scientists in academia, industry and government to present their latest research findings in specialized ad-hoc networks and systems. As an alternative to one-size-fits-all general solutions in the area of ad hoc networking and systems, the organizers want to stimulate the application-oriented divide-and-conquer approach to ad hoc network and system research. The goal is to provide sound and efficient specialized ad hoc networks and systems (SAHNS), suitable for building solutions specific for well-defined classes of applications or even individual applications.

The 3rd EDGeS User and Industry Forum Meeting is an ISC'09 satellite meeting. The EDGeS User & Industry Forum Meeting's theme will be "Desktop Grids and their role in Science and Enterprises". After the two previous and successful EDGeS User and Industry Forum Meetings in Paris, France, May 2008 and Debrecen, Hungary, September 2008, this third event will focus on bringing together Grid application users, developers and companies in order to discuss the possibilities of using Desktop Grid technology to get more computing power at reduced costs in universities and companies. The linking of different kinds of Grids, Desktop Grids, Service Grids such as EGEE and supercomputer Grids such as DEISA will also be discussed.

This annual workshop provides a forum in which to present research results in all areas related to the design, development, and evaluation of storage devices and systems.

EGEE is the largest service grid in Europe using the gLite grid middleware. BOINC is the most used volunteer desktop grid technology in the world. EDGeS integrates gLite based service grids with BOINC and XtremWeb based desktop grids. In this way the EDGeS infrastructure is the largest potential grid infrastructure in the world. The subject of the summer school is to give insights in these technologies (gLite, BOINC, XtremWeb and EDGeS) as well as in tools and programming environments by which users can develop and run applications on this enhanced grid infrastructure.

The increasing computational requirements of many applications require the development of new algorithms and architectures for parallel and distributed computing. The ISPDC conference serves as a forum for engineers and researchers to present and discuss new ideas and system technology, with an interactive and friendly, but strongly professional atmosphere.

This is a rare opportunity to hear about the latest achievements from Europe, North America and Asia, as well as to gain experience of a variety of Grid systems. The School will boost students' capabilities for research and innovation thanks to lectures, discussions, laboratory sessions, tutorials and group work. Keynote speakers are Fadhel M. Ghannouchi, University of Calgary, Canada on "Behavior Modelling Power Amplifiers / Transmitters For Wireless and Satellite Communications"; Prof. Daniel P. Loucks, Cornell University, USA on "Current Challenges in Managing Water"; and Prof. Jon Rokne, University of Calgary, Canada on "Effectiveness of Modeling in Predicting Cancer Biomarkers from Gene Expression Data".

ATC-09 will include a highly selective programme of technical papers, accompanied by workshops, panel discussions and keynote speeches under the theme "Bring Safe, Self-x and Organic Computing Systems into Reality". Established as a premier venue in the area of autonomic and trusted computing, ATC-09 will offer a forum for researchers to exchange ideas and experiences in the most innovative research and development in these challenging areas and includes all technical aspects related to autonomic/organic computing (AC/OC) and trusted computing (TC).

The primary focus of SSTD symposia is on original results in the areas of theoretical foundations, design, implementation, and applications of spatial and temporal database technology. SSTD also welcomes experience reports from application specialists and the commercial community that describe lessons learned in the development, operation, and maintenance of actual systems in practical and innovative applications. The goal is to exchange research ideas and results which will initially contribute to the academic arena, but may also benefit the commercial community in the near future and encourage a dialogue between practitioners and researchers.

CITSA 2009 is an International Multi-Conference being organized with the purpose of providing researchers, practitioners, developers, consultants, and end-users of computerized, communications and/or control systems and technologies, as well as their industrial and social applications in the private and the public sectors, an opportunity to join in a common place sharing experience and knowledge. It is intended to be a forum to expose and share current and future research work and innovations in these areas, as well as in the relationships among them. One of the primary objectives of CITSA 2009 is to promote and encourage "interdisciplinary cross-fertilization", "epistemic things" and the production of "technical objects". Its intellectual perspective context is systemic thinking and practice, including the analogical thinking that characterizes the Systems Approach.

IMETI 2009 includes:

Conference on future trends and e-Infrastructures application: towards sustainable development.

The goal of the summer school is to survey fundamentals of sensor networks and networked intelligent objects, as well as to identify novel opportunities and research directions in these areas through a series of lectures by international experts. Participants can experience the relevant technologies during hands-on courses and can present their own work during a participants' workshop. The school will provide a good opportunity to get to know other people working in the field, to meet distinguished scholars, and to establish contacts that may lead to research collaborations in the future. About 60 participants are expected - the intended audience are post-graduate students, PhD students, and young researchers from universities and industrial laboratories around the world.

SASP explores (micro)architectural design approaches, trade-offs and compiler technologies, for both domain-specific and customizable embedded processors. The symposium is a forum wherein challenges and solutions will be explored, discussed and compared.

The GECON workshop invites researchers and practitioners from academia and industry to discuss issues associated with the development of a common market for computing resources, including networks, storage, and software. The purpose of this workshop is to suggest future directions of research and extensions to existing technologies, aiming at the successful deployment of this commercial, service-oriented market for computing resources.

The goal of the UNICORE Summit is to bring together researchers and practitioners working with UNICORE in the areas of Grid and distributed computing, to exchange and share their experiences, new ideas, and latest research results on all aspects of UNICORE.

Virtualization has become a common abstraction layer in modern data centres, enabling resource owners to manage complex infrastructure independently of their applications. Conjointly virtualization is becoming a driving technology for a manifold of industry grade IT services. Piloted by the Amazon Elastic Computing Cloud services, the cloud concept includes the notion of a separation between resource owners and users, adding services such as hosted application frameworks and queuing. Utilizing the same infrastructure, clouds carry significant potential for use in high-performance scientific computing. The ability of clouds to provide for requests and releases of vast computing resource dynamically and close to the marginal cost of providing the services is unprecedented in the history of scientific and commercial computing.

Euro-Par is an annual series of international conferences dedicated to the promotion and advancement of all aspects of parallel and distributed computing. Euro-Par focuses on all aspects of hardware, software, algorithms and applications for parallel and distributed computing. The objective of Euro-Par is to provide a forum within which to promote the development of parallel and distributed computing both as an industrial technique and an academic discipline, extending the frontier of both the state of the art and the state of the practice.

Cluster 2009 addresses innovative work from researchers in academia, industry, and government, describing original research in the field of cluster computing.

The aim of the conference is to give an overview of the state-of-the-art of the developments, applications and future trends in high performance computing for all platforms. The conference addresses all aspects of parallel computing, including applications, hardware and software technologies as well as languages and development environments.

The European PVM/MPI Users Group conference is a forum for the users and developers of PVM, MPI, and other message-passing programming environments. They will have the opportunity to meet each other, share ideas and experiences, and meet members of the PVM and MPI teams.

During the seminar participants will receive first hand information about the planned PRACE research infrastructure, services and usage, representatives from industry (Airbus, BMW and SMEs) will demonstrate their competitive advantage through the regular use of HPC. This seminar will also contain four parallel sessions which will allow participants to discuss about their needs and expectations regarding PRACE infrastructure and services like organisation and business models, network and security, relations with ISV (Independent Software Vendors) and license cost and finally user support and training needs.

The XtreemOS Summer School will include lectures on modern distributed paradigms such as Grid computing, Cloud computing, and network-centric operating systems. The Summer School will combine lectures from research leaders shaping the future of distributed systems and world leaders in deploying and exploiting distributed infrastructures. Hands-on laboratory exercises and practical sessions using XtreemOS will give participants experience on using modern distributed systems.

EGEE-III, co-funded by the European Commission, aims to expand and optimise the Grid infrastructure, which currently processes up to 300,000 jobs per day from scientific domains ranging from biomedicine to fusion science. The EGEE Grid infrastructure is ideal for any scientific research, especially for projects where the time and resources needed for running the applications are considered impractical when using traditional IT infrastructures.

XML is widely recognized as the standard de facto for coupling with the heterogeneity of data repositories and software platforms of distributed environments. In light of this, distributed XML processing play a key role in the context of a plethora of modern distributed data, information and knowledge management applications and systems. Distributed XML processing deals with both theoretical and practical aspects, ranging from sophisticated theoretical contributions and tools to efficient algorithms and frameworks. Topics of interest include a wide range of areas of

meaningfully using XML in distributed environments.

The ICAIS'09 conference aims at bringing together international researchers, developers and practitioners from different horizons to discuss the latest advances in system learning and adaptation. ICAIS'09 will serve as a space to present the current state of the art but also future research avenues of this thematic. Topics of the conference cover

three aspects: Algorithms & theories of adaptation and learning, Adaptation issues in Hardware, Applications. ICAIS will feature contributed papers as well as world-renowned guest speakers, interactive breakout sessions, and instructional workshops.

Intelligent computing covers a hybrid palette of methods and techniques derived from classical artificial intelligence, computational intelligence, multi-agent systems a.o. Distributed computing studies systems that contain loosely-coupled components running on different networked computers and that communicate and coordinate their actions by message transfer. The emergent field of intelligent distributed computing is expected to pose special challenges of adaptation and fruitful combination of results of both areas with a great impact on the development of new generation intelligent distributed information systems. The aim of this symposium is to bring together researchers involved in intelligent distributed computing to allow cross-fertilization and synergy of ideas and to enable advancement of researches in the field.

Summit 09: Partnerships in CI Development is a culmination of three events that will explore the areas of cloud computing, high performance computing, grid, Web 2.0, business development, computational research, advanced networks, and other emerging cyberinfrastructures. The three events are: Open Grid Forum 27; IEEE Grid 2009; and Cybera/CANARIE Summit The week-long summit will bring together an international gathering of developers, suppliers, users and others who push the capabilities of the latest cloud, grid and advanced computing technologies. Presented as three conferences in one, this event will be one of the largest in North America to explore the tools that are changing the ways we integrate and innovate our business and research practices. It will host approximately 450 international delegates from both business and academic communities.

The HiBi - High performance computational systems Biology - workshop establishes a forum to link researchers in the areas of parallel computing and computational systems biology. One of the main limitations in managing models of biological systems comes from the fundamental difference between the high parallelism evident in biochemical reactions and the sequential environments employed for the analysis of these reactions. Such limitations affect all varieties of continuous, deterministic, discrete and stochastic models; undermining the applicability of simulation techniques and analysis of biological models. The goal of HiBi is therefore to bring together researchers in the fields of high performance computing and computational systems biology. Experts from around the world will present their current work, discuss profound challenges, new ideas, results, applications and their experience relating to key aspects of high performance computing in biology.
