 European Grid researchers advise European Commission to put more Grid into the IST research programme
At the initiative of the European Commission, a number of researchers active on Grid research, both from research institutes and industry attended a workshop to advise the Commission on the future of the Grid in Europe. They advised the Commission to put more of the Grid in next year's European Research programme. There are many application areas that could benefit from Grid developments, the researchers said.

Eonic Systems today unveiled its Virtuoso 4.2 Integrated Development Environment (IDE), for the design of multiprocessor embedded DSP networks, such a radar, sonar and high-end image processing. The Virtuoso 4.2 IDE includes the Virtuoso 4.2 RTOS, a project manager, a new multi-threaded asynchronous network host server, and a suite of graphical analysis and debugging tools, as well as plug-ins to TI's Code Composer Studio and ADI's Visual DSP.

 IEEE standard for modelling and simulation
The US Department of Defense (DoD) High Level Architecture (HLA) for simulation cleared the final hurdle to becoming an IEEE standard. The Standards Board of the Institute of Electronic and Electrical Engineers (IEEE) voted to accept the HLA as an international standard.

JNI Corporation, a Fibre Channel host bus adapter company said that IBM has qualified JNI's FCI-1063 PCI-to-Fibre Channel and FC64-1063 SBus-to-Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters (HBAs) for IBM's Enterprise Storage Server connected to fabric-enabled Solaris-based servers.
