Linux version of IRIS Explorer 4.0

Oxford 30 Nov 99 NAG released a Linux version of its IRIS Explorer 4.0, visualisation application development environment. IRIS Explorer 4.0 is the first release to be ported to Linux and enables users to collaborate on the analysis of their data, even when geographically separated.

IRIS Explorer is used by a broad range of industries including mechanical and electrical engineering, aerospace, automotive, high energy physics and medical imaging. The new Release 4.0 provides increased functionality, including several new features and enhancements of existing functions based on customer feedback.

Collaborative development across geographically separated networks and the Internet is one of the major new enhancements in Release 4.0. Teams of co-workers can now develop applications together, irrespective of geographical location, which can shorten the application development cycle and save travel/relocation costs.

Another feature in this new release is the possibility to share visualisations with others e.g. via the web. VRML outputs are easily produced in IRIS Explorer 4.0 and can improve communications with others. The use of vector PostScript has also been introduced in IRIS Explorer 4.0 to provide high quality hardcopy output.
