Dunn delivers Linux servers to US Department of Defense
Dulles 13 Dec 99 Dunn Computer Corporation has completed shipping forty-one, high- performance, custom configured Dunn Model 760 Servers running Red Hat Linux Version 6.0 to a US Department of Defense Research & Development Laboratory.
Each server includes hot-swappable SCSI disk drives and writable CD. The servers were also configured with extra drive bays, power and cooling to accommodate existing hardware the customer wanted supported by the new servers. The resulting systems are fully Linux OS compatible and will be used by the DOD laboratory for research and development. "This order is an excellent example of where our operating systems expertise, network server knowledge and integration facility have a big payoff to the customer," said Ed Spear, President and COO of Dunn's Network Integration Division. "Our engineering department worked with the customer to ensure Linux compatibility across the board; i.e., we consulted with the client and created a Linux system that not only supported the latest technology but was also compatible with existing DOD devices. When we were finished, the systems were fully operational and ready to use -- allowing the customer to concentrate on their real work and not get bogged down in the details of integration and software. All Dunn servers are tested with Red Hat Linux Version 6.0 and we're seeing an increased demand for the Linux in both our commercial and government markets."
