Helisys signs technology license agreement with Toyoda Machine Works
Torrance 07 Jan 00 Helisys announced a multi year technology licensing agreement with Toyoda Machine Works, Ltd. of Kariya, Japan, for the licensing of Helisys rapid prototyping Laminated Object Manufacturing (LOM) systems to Toyoda to manufacture and sell within Japan.
"This is a next step in our continuing strategic relationship with Toyoda," stated Gary S. Moskovitz, president and chief executive officer. "Japan is the world's third largest market for rapid prototyping/direct manufacturing systems. This arrangement will significantly enhance our ability to address the sophisticated research, product development and manufacturing issues confronting our Japanese end user companies." Helisys develops and manufactures systems for rapid prototyping and direct manufacturing, directly producing parts, models and molds from three-dimensional, computer-generated CAD software designs, using its proprietary LOM technology. Helisys has shipped more than 325 LOM systems, now operating in 35 countries. Helisys LOM systems are instrumental in bringing products to market faster for manufacturers of automobiles, toys, appliances, sporting goods, electronic hardware, medical devices, industrial equipment, aerospace components, footwear and other products. Helisys systems also are used in university research environments and supercomputer centers.
