Visual Numerics Announces JWAVE Version 3.0

Boulder 13 Jan 00 Visual Numerics' JWAVE 3.0 is now available. JWAVE is a client/server solution that uses Sun Microsystems' Java components to rapidly develop and deploy applications across an enterprise via the Internet or an intranet. These JWAVE applications are 100% Pure Java and let users perform numerical analysis and visual interpretation of large, complex datasets.

Among JWAVE 3.0's most significant new features are expanded connection choices for linking JWAVE with an organization's enterprise architecture; the addition of 76 mathematical and statistical analysis functions from Visual Numerics' IMSL C Numerical Library; and first-time support for the Linux operating system.

The new connection choices include Java servlets, integration with application servers, and direct socket connections. This freedom of choice gives application developers the flexibility to deploy JWAVE in a variety of enterprise architectures, freeing them to focus on content not system administration.

JWAVE 3.0 also includes 76 new functions from the IMSL C Numerical Library, Visual Numerics' comprehensive set of more than 300 pre-built mathematical and statistical analysis functions written in C that programmers can embed directly into their data analysis applications. This brings to 188 the total number of IMSL C Numerical Library functions available in JWAVE 3.0.

Many of IMSL C Numerical Library's functions are based upon corresponding routines from the company's highly-regarded IMSL Fortran Numerical Library, which was first released in 1970. Since that time, more than 150,000 programmers have used the IMSL tools as "building blocks" for their applications. These programmers work in industries ranging from engineering test & analysis to space physics to business & finance and the earth sciences.

In addition to the Linux operating system, JWAVE 3.0 supports servers and desktop computers running any popular version of Unix [Solaris, HP-UX, IRIX, Tru64 (formerly Digital UNIX) and AIX] or Windows NT.
