HP extends Visualize Work station family
Palo Alto 07 Feb 00 Hewlett-Packard officially introduced the HP VISUALIZE C3600 and J5600 workstations. These advanced technical-computing workstations are based on the PA-8600. The HP VISUALIZE C3600 and J5600 are the newest members of HP's VISUALIZE workstation family. These systems offer a 38 percent performance increase over HP's PA-8500 RISC processor.
The HP VISUALIZE C3600 and J5600 workstations feature up to 8GB of SDRAM and the industry's highest total on-chip cache of 1.5MB for reduced latency and increased performance. These systems also provide binary compatibility with future PA-RISC and IA-64 processors. The HP VISUALIZE C3600 and J5600 workstations deliver the high performance needed by scientists, engineers and designers who use sophisticated software to compute, visualize and manipulate sets of large, complex data and models. With expanded performance, these systems boost designer productivity in many business environments where time to market is critical. For example, EDA projects that involve Integrated Circuit (IC) verification, IC place and route, physical synthesis and timing analysis can be completed in record time. Similarly, MDA projects that include virtual prototyping, large-model 3-D rendering, and manufacturing simulation can be completed with unprecedented speed. Both the HP VISUALIZE C3600 and J5600 workstation support the world's most advanced graphics subsystems, the HP VISUALIZE fxe, fx4 Pro and fx6 Pro, for breakthrough graphics performance. The entire line of VISUALIZE fx graphics offers universal full 3-D functionality, performance, motion video, texture mapping and 3-D Java and VRML support across all workstation platforms. The VISUALIZE fx accelerators feature sophisticated shading, lighting, depth cueing and accelerated texture capabilities, enabling customers to visualize projects in real time. The HP VISUALIZE C3600 and J5600 workstations are available now for U.S. estimated street prices starting at $11,900 for the C3600 and $21,800 for the J5600.
