New business intelligence tool from VN

Boulder 15 Feb 00 Visual Numerics, unveiled iDecision at the Business Intelligence World conference in Chicago. iDecision is a new solution that accelerates the acquisition and analysis of corporate data made available through Enterprise Information Portals (EIPs). iDecision combines advanced data visualization and numerical analysis tools with fast database connections, giving users an integrated solution that analyzes and makes graphical sense of large volumes of complex corporate data.

iDecision lets users customize the graphical output they generate, depending on the specific data being analyzed. This allows all users, from chief executive to operations manager, to be more productive on the job.

"Visual Numerics has a well-established history of providing data analysis and advanced visualization tools to people who need to turn raw data into meaningful information," said Don Kainer, Visual Numerics' vice president of marketing and product development. "These same demands are prevalent in the business intelligence market, where people must often make sense of a deluge of corporate data found at EIPs. Until now, this data has been analyzed by studying tabular data. We believe we have a better solution for the person analyzing the data."

Kainer continued, "Instead of studying rows and columns of numbers looking for patterns, trends and anomalies, users can apply iDecision's powerful visualization and analytical techniques to drill into the data. The resulting graphical output, which may include mapping and multi-dimensional views, improves the decision-making process by making it faster, easier and more accurate."

The data visualization engine of iDecision is Visual Numerics' JWAVE product. JWAVE is an enterprise computing solution that uses network technologies, including Java, JavaBeans components and HTML, to rapidly develop and deploy applications throughout an organization via the Internet or an intranet. Scalable from the desktop to the enterprise, these JWAVE applications let users visually interpret large, complex datasets.

iDecision supports the following operating systems: Unix (Solaris, HP-UX, IRIX, Tru64 and AIX), Linux and Windows NT.
