First European GRID Forum Workshop from newly formed e-grid group

Poznan 22 Feb 00 The 1st European GRID Forum Workshop will take place in Poznan, Poland, during the ISThmus'2000 conference, 12-13 April, 2000. The European Grid Forum (EGRID) was recently established to create a forum for improving the conditions for Grid-related research and applications in Europe. EGRID is supposed to be a medium for information exchange as well as a place where users, researchers, and companies from all over Europe can find partners for projects of mutual interest.

With the growing need for high performance computing power and with the recent improvements in the networking infrastructure, grid computing is now playing a more and more significant role in science and industry. In the vision of the Egrid group, no single institute or country can solve this problem independently and many of the technologies are still in their early stages of research and development.
