Enlighten monitoring software on SuSe
Hanover 14 Mar 00 Enlighten Software Solutions and SuSE Linux AG announced a strategic partnership under which SuSE will bundle Enlighten's Linux System Monitoring and Reporting technology with the SuSE Linux 6.4 for Intel distribution.
SuSE customers will be able to select Enlighten Monitoring for their Linux system during the SuSE installation process. When selected, the Enlighten Linux Monitoring Agent will be able to monitor and report on critical Linux system and operating conditions including processor, memory utilization, changes in hardware and software configuration and increases in network errors. The Enlighten Agent will also point SuSE customers to the Enlighten Software web site where they will be able to register and license the Linux Agent and obtain documentation and information about configuring over 80 tests that come with the agent. Additionally, SuSE customers can choose to upgrade to the full EnlightenDSM product for single point monitoring and management of Linux, Unix and Windows. "The Enlighten/SuSE partnership is a dynamic combination. Their focus is high quality and reliability and Enlighten's single point Linux management provides more of both for SuSE customers, said Bill Bradley, President and CEO of Enlighten Software. "With the new 6.4 release, SuSE customers will have immediate benefit in monitoring the critical elements of their SuSE Linux machines. Right out of the box, EnlightenDSM is easy to install and use for comprehensive Linux management. This relationship allows SuSE Linux customers to take advantage of immediate integration for Linux to existing Unix and NT systems with technology that's been tested and bundled by IBM, SGI, TurboLinux and others." "Our customers are asking for commercial grade, scalable management of Linux," stated Dirk Hohndel, CTO of SuSE Linux AG. "As our customers move to broader commercial use of Linux they will benefit from single point, easy to use management of all Linux machines and they increasingly will want to add SuSE Linux to existing Unix and NT environments that need to be integrated and managed efficiently together."
