Compaq to ship new servers and upgraded version of Tru64 Unix

Houston 11 Apr 00 Compaq Computer Corporation announced major enhancements to its high availability AlphaServer systems, and introduced NonStop eBusiness solution infrastructure capabilities with Oracle on Compaq Tru64 UNIX and TruCluster Server. Announced were major enhancements to the AlphaStation and AlphaServer DS20E and ES40; a new, pre-configured AlphaServer ES40 Cluster Base System for Tru64; and enhanced versions of Tru64 UNIX V5.0A and TruCluster Server V5.0A.

The new and enhanced AlphaServer systems significantly reinforce the strength of the entire AlphaServer product line, and add to the capabilities of the AlphaServer GS60E and AlphaServer GS140 (announced in October 1999).

Compaq announced Tru64 UNIX V5.0A and TruCluster ServerV5.0A with significant enhancements that make it even easier for customers to achieve high availability with reduced management effort, using existing system administrator staff.

Compaq's new AlphaServer ES40 Cluster Base System for Tru64 UNIX is pre-configured, pre-loaded, fully tested and easy-to-manage, and is designed to offer customers a fully-functional AlphaServer cluster with reduced risk and the ability to select other options -- such as and additional memory -- to meet their specific needs.
