Intergraph announces new Zx10 ViZual Engine

Huntsville 10 Apr 00 Intergraph Computer Systems (Nasdaq:INGR) today announced its new Zx ViZual Workstation, the Zx10 VE (ViZual Engine), a high-performance 5U rackmount and Ultra-Tower workstation based on Intergraph's Wahoo Technology, which delivers unmatched system throughput and I/O bandwidth. The combination of the Zx10 VE with Intense3D's latest Wildcat 4210 3D Graphics, achieves several of the industry's highest benchmark performance scores.

Powered by single or dual Intel(R) Pentium(R) III processors running at 866 or 800EB MHz, the new Zx10 VE delivers unparalleled 3D graphics performance, system bandwidth, and internal storage for demanding creative, technical and visual synthesis applications, such as visual simulation, virtual sets, CAVE environments, real-time motion capture, and 3D animation for film and broadcast.

The Zx10 VE is fortified with a robust, 400W power supply for optimal support of Intense3D's latest Wildcat 4210 3D graphics accelerator, which offers double the performance of previous-generation Wildcat products, along with a rich feature set optimized for high-powered 3D applications. The Zx10 VE 5u rackmount is also cabled to support up to six Ultra3 SCSI hard drives - enabling over 200 GB of internal storage for high-density terrain databases, complex MCAD assemblies, or richly textured 3D content. The Ultra-Tower configuration supports five drives for a maximum of 127.4 GB of internal storage. Supporting a massive 6 GB of memory and a fast/wide memory bus, as well as the latest 66 MHz/64-Bit PCI cards via dual independent PCI busses, the Zx10 VE pushes the envelope in all areas of system performance, delivering the most powerful capabilities ever for Windows NT-based creative, technical, and visual synthesis applications. For 2D applications, the Zx10 VE is also available with Matrox's Millennium G400 graphics. The powerful new Zx10 VE is featured at this week's National Association of Broadcasters Convention (NAB booth No. S4145) and the International Training and Education Conference (ITEC 2000, booth No. 824).

The Zx10 VE is the first workstation to support Intense3D's latest Wildcat 4210 3D Graphics Accelerator, which delivers twice the performance of the previous-generation Wildcat 4110. The new Wildcat 4210 features a dual-pipeline graphics architecture with a 128 MB frame buffer and 128 MB dedicated texture memory. The result is sizzling graphics performance - an astounding 11 million 3D triangles/sec. with a peak 243 Mpixels/sec. (trilinear) fill rate. The Zx10 VE optimizes this performance with its massive system throughput, as well as supporting the rich feature set of the Wildcat 4210.
