Visitor number HOISe news server with Primeur and VMW magazines more than doubled

Almere 06 Jan 00 The number of different visitors to the Primeur & VMW news server HOISe, more than doubled in the past year, breaking the 10,000 barrier in December with over 10,100 different visitors during that month. The number of page views was close to 50,000.

"We are very pleased with these numbers", said Ad Emmen, editor-in-chief of the Primeur & VMW news magazines. "The exploding number of visitors to our news services clearly shows we are on the right track with providing information on advanced IT, especially HPCN and telemedicine, with a European focus. Our readers value news on European developments, that cannot be found in the American HPCN and telemedicine news sources."

With over 10,000 visitors a month, Primeur & VMW are by far the largest Internet news source on HPCN and advanced IT for telemedicine in Europe. Readers come from all over Europe. But also the USA, Japan, and Canada contribute considerably to the readership.

The HPCN news service Primeur reaches the desktop of all major vendors, supercomputer centres, research centres and large industrial users.

Both VMW and Primeur have an additional readership of subscribers who receive the magazine by e-mail. "These e-mail subscribers are important, as they do provide feed back, which helps us improving the quality of the news service", says Ad Emmen, "because they pay for their subscription - as opposed to the web service which is for free - they are keen at getting the news they need."

For 2000 the Primeur & VMW news service again hopes to be able to double the number of visitors. 'The web site from the innovative TV programme "Big Brother" counted 50 million page views in 100 days. Although we do not expect to reach that level in the near future with our innovative IT news service, it shows there is always room for improvement. Although Primeur is edited in Almere and "Big Brother" was broad-casted from the same city, the main difference between the two is that in "Big Brother" the information content is reduced to zero, while we try to maximise the information content for our readers,' said Ad Emmen who works from the Almere office.
