MINOS Multidisciplinary INtensive computing for research activities Of European Scientists - Call for Candidatures

Bologna 30 June 2000 CINECA, the Italian Supercomputing Centre can be visited by European researchers under the MINOS Project. CINECA, a consortium that consists of 15 Italian universities, has been appointed, because of its large-scale scientific and technical facilities, as a centre for the application of supercomputing in interdisciplinary research activities. This Centre aims at selecting European researchers who can spend a research period at CINECA Supercomputing Centre fully supported by the MINOS Project (Multidisciplinary INtensive computing for research activities Of European Scientists). The access is supported by the European Commission Access to Research Infrastructures action of the Improving Human Potential Programme . Candidatures are based on a continuous submission scheme.

Under the MINOS Project, which is the follow up of the ICARUS Project, CINECA is able to host researchers till March 2003 so that European researchers may make use of the resources and services available. With regard to the supercomputing aspect of the project, CINECA will provide hosted European researchers with training, parallel supercomputing facilities, access to scientific visualisation laboratory and to on-line information service. The Researchers will be provided too with the support of CINECA experts for the best use of available resources.

European Union citizens of the following countries are eligible: Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Portugal, Spain, The Netherlands, United Kingdom, Austria, Finland, Sweden. People coming from the associated countries to the IHP programme are also eligible: Bulgaria, Liechtenstein, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Republic of Cyprus, Norway, Estonia, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Iceland, Slovakia, Israel, Slovenia, Latvia, Switzerland (which is expected to enter into force on January 2001).
