Using distributed Internet computing to monitor Internet performance
Toronto 30 November 2000 Envive Corporation will use Distributed Science's
network of over 145,000 computers from 72,000 unique suppliers to create a
worldwide Internet infrastructure for its performance testing and monitoring
services.
Using Distributed Science's world-spanning Process Tree Network will allow
Envive to meet the needs of virtually any e-Business customer through the use of
actual users PCs. By using this technology, also known as distributed
computing, the "last mile" of Internet connectivity can be more accurately
measured than ever before.
The agreement between Envive and Distributed Science adds another use to the
technology popularized by Napster and will allow Envive to provide a more
accurate account of the performance that users are experiencing on the Internet.
Operating the ProcessTree network with over 145,000 computers worldwide,
Distributed Science, Inc. is leading the emerging distributed processing
industry. Using idle resources from computers on either a customer's corporate
Intranet or supplied by individuals around the globe on the ProcessTree
network, Distributed Science's software provides the highly scaleable
infrastructure for a variety of quality of service applications and enables
cost-efficient processing of computing jobs at levels exceeding the capacity of
traditional supercomputers.
