Transatlantic research network connection upgraded

Cambridge 05 January 2001 European research net work organisation Dante, announced that the interconnection with the American backbone network Abilene has been upgraded by an extra 622 Mbps.

Dante also said a new interconnection agreement with ESnet, the American Energy Science network, has also been signed in December 2000. For the first time, this agreement offers a shared-cost model for transatlantic connectivity.
