Peugeot Citroen buys two Cray SV1 supercomputers
Paris 16 January 2001 Paris based Peugeot Citroen Automobiles SA (PSA) has ordered two Cray SV-1 systems and an upgrade for a Cray J90.To date, the world wide automotive firm has ordered eight Cray SV1
systems.
"Peugeot Citroen uses Cray technology for crucial aspects of
our automotive design process," said Christophe Prigent, in charge of
scientific computing at the IT Division of PSA. "Deploying multiple
Cray SV1 systems gives us powerful, highly reliable supercomputing
capability for our Crash and Safety applications."
Peugeot Citroen Automobiles SA is a leading global automotive
company with two strong vehicle brands: Peugeot and Citroen. In 1999,
the company sold 2.5 million cars and trucks world wide, more than
two-thirds of them outside of France. PSA is France's largest
automaker, Europe's largest producer of minivans and second largest
producer of vans and trucks.
