New Dutch national super still not on-line

Amsterdam 26 February 2001 The Dutch national research supercomputer Teras, the largest SGI supercomputer in Europe, still is not on-line. Software instabilities plague the system that should have been operational from mid February

According to SARA, the problem in part of the new software necessary to run a large supercomputer like Teras is causing too much instability to the system to start production.

SGI engineers are still working very hard to prepare a fix for this problem. Under the present circumstances the computing centre canot give a date on which regular services will commence.
