Einux ships next generation Dual AMD 1U rack servers

Los Angeles 12 December 2001 Einux, in conjunction with AMD, has launched its next generation Dual AMD 1U rackmount servers offering the fastest and highest density rackmount servers available in the industry utilising AMD's newest Athlon MP 1900+ multiprocessing processors and next generation 760MP-X.

The A.Serv A1200 & A1300 Series 1U RackServers feature two Athlon MP processors, operating at up to 1.6GHz, making them the fastest 1U (1.75" height) server on the market today. Starting at a price of $2,395 & $2,995 respectively, the A1200 & A1300 1U Rack Servers are also the most cost-effective 1U dual CPU servers featuring the lowest total cost of ownership (TCO) and total cost of management (TCM) in the industry.

Designed for demanding enterprises and high performance computing environments, Einux's A.Serv A1300 supports up to four Ultra 160 SCSI hard disk drives with internal storage of up to 293.6GB and up to 3GB of fast PC2100 Double Data Rate (DDR) memory. Meanwhile, the value minded A1200 supports up to four Ultra ATA/100 IDE hard drives with internal storage of up to 640GB, 60% more than the nearest competitor, and supports up to 4GB of PC2100 DDR memory.

These servers also feature AMD's just announced, next generation 760MP-X chipset offering enhanced SMP dual processor performance and up to two 64-bit 66MHz PCI expansion slots. And with Einux's patent-pending ServerKool and CPUKool, Einux bring AMD's SMP performance to the high density 1U (1.75") of space.

This is made possible with Einux's unique chassis, which is made with special aluminum-magnesium alloy mixture, originally developed for aircraft and spacecraft, which acts as an overall heatsink, cooling not just the CPU but the entire server operating environment keeping internal ambient temperature up to 10 degrees Celcius cooler than conventional materials.

At the heart of Einux's 1U servers are AMD's super fast Athlon MP CPU, which is based on AMD's Palomino core featuring new technologies such as 3DNow! Professional and SmartMP bus technology. The Athlon MPs superior Floating Point Unit (FPU) makes the A1200 & A1300 servers ideal for processing complex calculations in applications such as vector graphics, 3D animation and supercomputer processing.

In benchmarks, these servers performed up to 50% faster than comparable Intel Pentium III and Pentium 4 processors. When combined with Einux's Compact Server Architecture (CSA), 42 FlyBird 1Us are capable of processing over 268 Gigaflops (billion floating point operations per second) and storing over 12 terabytes of data, all in one industry standard 19" rack cabinet, making it perfect for such high-end computing applications such as cluster supercomputing.

The A1200 1U Dual CPU RackServers with dual AMD Athlon MP 1900+ CPUs, 40GB IDE hard drive and 256MB DDR ECC memory is available immediately at $2,395. The A1300 1U Dual CPU RackServers with dual AMD Athlon MP 1900+ CPUs, 18GB Ultra 160 SCSI hard drive and 256MB DDR ECC memory is available immediately at $2,995.
