Collaboration between SGI and Turbolinux
New York 05 February 2001 SGI and Turbolinux formed a new strategic cooperation including
an SGI equity investment in Turbolinux. In addition, SGI and
Turbolinux will work closely in a number of areas, including engineering,
distribution, business development and marketing.
During the past year, SGI and Turbolinux have worked cooperatively on the
Itanium for Linux project. At the LinuxWorld Conference in San
Jose in August 2000, the two companies announced an agreement to
incorporate breakthrough SGI Pro64 compiler technology into the
upcoming commercial release of Turbolinux for the Itanium, for
substantially increased Itanium performance on Linux. Both SGI and
Turbolinux have aggressive Itanium roadmaps with proven expertise in this
area.
