Turbolinux Beta 3 Release for Intel Itanium-based systems

San Francisco 26 February 2001 Turbolinux announced the beta 3 release of the Turbolinux operating system for Intel Itanium-based systems. This latest Turbolinux release for Linux for Itanium processor family platforms offers enterprise customers increased functionality, faster processing speeds and easier software installation.

Turbolinux's latest release targets users of high-end servers and workstations. Offering scalability and performance for mission-critical applications and technical computing environments, Turbolinux Beta 3 for Itanium-based systems is currently under test at hundreds of Global 1000 companies around the world.

Based on the 2.4 Linux kernel, Turbolinux Beta 3 for Itanium-based systems enables the enhanced performance and scalability and includes support for significantly increased memory and processing speeds required for enterprise computing.

Turbolinux is working closely with Intel, OEMs, developers and ISVs to ensure that the release of Turbolinux for the Itanium processor coincides with the forthcoming release of Itanium-based hardware and applications.
