In a second phase to the agreement, Platform and Compaq will work together to more tightly integrate and enhance the functionality of LSF with the AlphaServer SC software environment. The result of that work will be available to new and existing AlphaServer SC customers in a new version of the AlphaServer SC software targeted for release starting in Q4 of 2001.
"With Platform's LSF, our customers can accelerate the ability to scale projects and business without sacrificing quality or time to results," said Bill Blake, Vice President of the High Performance Technical Computing Group at Compaq. "LSF provides the power of a virtual supercomputer through advanced scheduling and parallel computing. We're delighted to be able to offer this leading resource management software as increased value to our customers," Blake added.
Platform's President Phil Weaver said, "This is a great opportunity to play a significant role in the most exciting computer installations in the world today. Compaq's customers --- including some of the largest computing sites in the world --- will have the opportunity to dramatically increase their productivity once they can fully utilize all available resources in their computing environments with LSF. Alpha systems and LSF have been used together for more than five years to solve some of the world's most challenging computational problems. We are pleased to collaborate with Compaq to offer solutions that increase productivity and lower costs for mission critical, computing-intensive applications," he said.
The Compaq AlphaServer SC Series systems provide a combination of power, scalability and affordability. Built with proven, standard volume components, the systems bring speed and capacity to scientific, industrial and commercial users.
