MSC.Linux announces OSCAR cluster tool support
Costa Mesa 23 March 2001 MSC.Linux, a
division of MSC.Software Corp. announced the availability
of MSC.Linux V2001 (April) Beta. A major feature of the April release
is the complete integration of OSCAR (Open Source Cluster Application
Resources).
Currently available as a developer's release, OSCAR is developed
by the Open Cluster Group led by Oak Ridge
National Laboratory (ORNL), the University of Illinois' National
Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA), IBM and Intel.
MSC.Software, a founding member of the team, is the technical lead for
the programming environment. Other collaborators in the Open Cluster
Group include Dell, SGI and Veridian.
OSCAR is a collaborative project among major research centers and
technology companies to provide software tools that greatly simplify
the process of installing and maintaining a Linux cluster. The OSCAR
software supports the ability to replicate a supercomputing
environment, based on a Linux cluster. The tools included in OSCAR are
tested, integrated and freely distributable.
