Platform release File Transfer Agent 1.1
Toronto 21 March 2001 Platform Computing
released FTA (File Transfer Agent) 1.1 for File Assurance that
allows organizations to safely and securely share files and data in a
collaborative fashion. Platform FTA addresses a specific requirement of large
file transfers taking place in either distributed compute farms or on
supercomputers .
Whether working on a LAN, private WAN or over the Internet, Platform FTA
addresses the reliability and security issues associated with transferring
files over a network. Platform FTA is fully compatible with FTA from Cray and
SGI, and is available on a wide range of operating systems.
Among other enhancements, this latest release improves the functionality
and security of file transfers through additional support for NPPA (Network
Peer-to-Peer Authorization) and Kerberos user authentication, automatic
re-queuing of file transfers during network problems, host crashes and
automatic restarting of stalled transfers.
Platform FTA enables secure
synchronous or asynchronous file transfer to or from any client node. All FTA
queued transfers are unattended and do not require user intervention to
retransmit an interrupted file transfer. Additional commands allow the user
to query status and to suspend, resume and delete transfers. The combination
of these capabilities translates into optimal security, reliability and data
integrity, which are critical to today's business operations.
