MOSIX 0.97.11 available for Linux

Urbana 09 April 2001 MOSIX 0.97.11 is now avaialable for Linux 2.2.19. MOSIX enhances the Linux kernel with cluster computing capabilities. It allows a cluster of PCs to work cooperatively as if part of a single system.

When using MOSIX it is not necessary to change applications, to link applications with any library, or to assign processes to different nodes. MOSIX does its job automatically and transparently. The MOSIX algorithms are geared for maximal performance, overhead-free scalability, and ease of use.

The core of MOSIX are adaptive resource management algorithms that monitor and respond (on-line) to uneven work distribution among the nodes in order to improve the overall performance of all the processes. These algorithms use pre-emptive process migration to assign and reassign the processes among the nodes, to continuously take advantage of the best available resources.
