Collaboration on motion tracking
Burlington 19 April 2001 InterSense, a provider of precision motion tracking technology that
allows people to easily interact with 3D computer-generated
environments, expanded its partnership with
Vinten . The team of Vinten and InterSense will offer ImageTracker IS-900 precision camera tracking
solution for virtual production.
According to Vinten's Director of Business Development Nick Kent,
"combined with the Vinten Image Tracker product family, the IS-900
Image Tracker adds depth to our virtual-ready product offerings. "The
full Image Tracker family, in combination with virtual set software
from vi[z]rt, Brainstorm and Hybrid-MC, gives our clients a production
ready solution through a global support network," Kent concluded.
Webcasters, broadcast and cable television production studios will
now be able to seamlessly integrate their live shots with 3D computer
generated graphics in real time, saving costs in set construction and
design and programming. Camera tracking is an integral component to
the success of a virtual set because it determines the position,
orientation and lens settings of a camera so the graphical background
perspective matches the live camera shot. The ImageTracker IS-900
is engineered to "know" the camera's position in relation to the
virtual set, resulting in the merger of the real and virtual worlds
into a seamless scene.
The ImageTracker IS-900 helps television stations, film
studios and Webcasters save time and money by allowing talent to
interact with computer generated backgrounds or virtual sets as an
alternative to shooting on location or building cumbersome sets. Once
created, these elements become a toolbox of items that can be called
up and used or changed by directors in future virtual productions.
