University of Central Florida receives Mercury
real-time signal and image processing computer
Chelmsford 24 April 2001 Mercury Computer Systems donated a RACE multi-computer
platform and software to the University of Central Florida. The
12-processor system and software will be used by the computer
engineering programme for instruction and research in real time,
high-performance computing concepts.
In addition to teaching the foundation courses in parallel,
distributed and real time systems, the university is using Mercury's
computers to teach the students in two of his advanced computer
engineering courses that involve newer industry initiatives including
CORBA and MPI standards. The state-of-the-art systems replace
equipment that was five to ten years old. The course material
is also available on the Internet, enabling industry professionals and
engineers to improve their skills and knowledge by participating in
the course online.
