Sun and TV Files to provide broad band distributed solutions to European market

Las Vegas 23 April 2001 Sun and TV Files have signed a co-operation agreement to provide content providers, Internet Service Providers (ISPs), and corporations in the European market with solutions for the distribution of broadcast quality video and multimedia content.

This agreement allows TV Files and Sun to offer a technologically advanced solution for bridging the divide inherent in the traditional point-to-point transmission model of the Internet. It additionally satisfies the growing need to transmit broadcast quality video and multimedia content online via public networks and corporate Local Area Networks (LANs), by leveraging the enormous potential offered by broadband connections. This innovative solution is based on TV Files' satellite IP multicast platform and on Sun's leading technological infrastructure.

TV Files provides service applications - such as video portals (Business-to-Consumer (B2C)), broadband networks, interactive business television, points of information for retail chains and public institutions, interactive news, webcasting services, interactive distance learning, and content distribution for advertising - to vertical markets.

TV Files integrates a proprietary software platform based on Internet protocols with its own broadband network. The company supplies all systems and services for the editing, encoding, storage, data management, and multi-point delivery of multimedia content and broadcast quality video.

TV Files offers its technology to integrate with Sun's technological platform. TV Files' solution on Sun's platform allows the satellite IP multicast transmission of multimedia content and broadcast quality video to 'edge servers' installed at POPs of the Internet Service Providers or directly at corporate LANs. The second portion of the path remains point-to-point, thus allowing interaction.
