Under North's tenure from 1987-1999,
HNC Software grew from a start-up to a multimillion-dollar supplier of
enterprise software with a staff of over 650 and annual revenues of $250 million
by 2000.
During his tenure as president and CEO of Entropia, Madsen led the company
through an explosive growth phase.
The seasoned technology veteran assembled a world-class senior management team,
raised significant financial resources to fuel the company's growth, spearheaded
the development of two generations of commercial software, and secured
deployments at several customers to drive Entropia to a leadership position in
distributed computing.
Entropia's Board of Directors also announced the promotion of co-founder and CTO
Dr. Andrew Chien to chairman of the board, recognizing his outstanding
contributions to the company. Dr. Chien has been instrumental in developing the
vision and architecture of the Entropia platform and will continue to play a
pivotal role in Entropia's ongoing business strategy.
As the company makes this transition to its growth phase in enterprise
deployments, Entropia founder Scott Kurowski has announced that he will be
leaving to pursue other entrepreneurial opportunities. Kurowski, widely
recognized for pioneering modern, PC-based distributed computing, started the
company in 1997 with the creation of the first commercial distributed computing
network.
Kurowski played a leading role in Entropia's early development, building the
publicly supported Internet Grid, and laying the groundwork for entering the
enterprise market.
