ShareThis to incorporate Texar policy-based network security into its real-time collaborative application platform

Ottowa 15 May 2001 Texar Corporation, a developer of security technologies designed to work across the enterprise, Web and peer-to-peer (P2P) computing environments, will work together with ShareThis a collaborative application platform provider that gives users real time communication and file sharing capabilities over any IP network.

The partnership will see Texar's SecureRealms technology integrated into the ShareThis collaborative application platform, giving users a single, comprehensive solution suite for selective and secure sharing of information over the Internet or any other network. Texar's policy-based security solution complements the ShareThis platform by giving organizations the flexibility to share and distribute information according to its own rules or policies.

Texar SecureRealms is a policy-based security authorization solution that enables secure, real-time information sharing within networks and across the Internet. Texar SecureRealms allows information owners to build policies or rules for selectively and securely sharing that information within a virtual realm. The product's policies are completely programmable, providing infinite flexibility in defining the who, what, where, when and why of information sharing.

ShareThis has developed a Java-based, hybrid P2P platform that enables application developers to add real-time collaborative functionality, such as secure team-browsing, instant messaging and application and file-sharing, to existing or new applications. Designed for supply-chain, e-marketplace and CRM applications, the ShareThis platform is being used by a cable system operator in one of its call centers.

This platform currently provides for group chat, secure instant messaging, file sharing of any application, floor control for online meetings, application viewing/sharing with remote control, team browsing, and integration of voice.

ShareThis received series A venture funding from Pillar Management with additional financing provided by Coldstream Capital and Empire Ventures.
