Keyhole debuts EarthSytem viewer

Laguna Niguel 23 May 2001 Keyhole released its EarthSystem, a rich mapping technology. Keyhole's supercomputer-based processing tools fuse high-resolution satellite images, aerial photographs, maps, point of interest databases and other location-critical data into a 3D model of unprecedented detail. Keyhole's patented data-delivery technology efficiently delivers this rich mapping system to corporate customers and consumers over wired and wireless networks.

Capitalizing on converging digital imaging, GPS, 3D and storage technologies, Keyhole has developed a application that delivers new capabilities and cost savings in markets such as real estate, energy and public sector planning where location is key. Real estate agents can instantly view MLS listings overlaid on realistic imagery and set in the context of their surroundings, utilities can visualize networks spanning cities, counties and even entire states, city planners can overlay zoning changes and development plans for analysis and presentation. For location-based consumer services, Keyhole delivers a 3D interface previously available only to defense and intelligence organizations using high-end graphics workstations. Wireless and broadband service providers deliver Keyhole-powered rich location-based services to dramatically enhance the end-user experience, fueling customer acquisition and revenues.

Keyhole's EarthSystem consists of a multi-terabyte model of the world constructed from high-resolution photographic imagery, 3D elevation, digital maps and more than 4.6 million US business listings. It contains the EarthServer ASP which provides instant access and rock-steady reliability. The EarthServer DataStream enables partners to host internal and external databases enabling partners to visualize MLS listings, development plans, pipelines, and other data within the context of Keyhole's global 3D model. Real-time 3D navigation of the entire earth running at game-like speeds on ordinary desktop PCs is possible.

EarthSystem has ntegrated street maps and address look-up and 4.6 million searchable yellow page listings . Access is possible via EarthViewer 3D client, EarthViewer HTML, and EarthViewer PDA.
