MSC.Software Linux cluster at Fiat Center of Research

Turino 30 May 2001 The research subsidiary of Italian automobile manufacturer Fiat, The Center of Research for Fiat Group (CRF), has implemented a24 processor MSC.Linux cluster to run complex design and engineering simulations, significantly accelerating development of vehicle and engine design.

"CRF's cluster running MSC.Linux completes analysis faster and achieves considerable cost benefits over traditional supercomputers," said Frank Perna, chairman and chief executive officer of MSC.Software. "Companies worldwide that are running MSC.Linux clusters, such as Fiat and other automobile manufacturers, are seeing huge performance increases enabling them to bring their products to market faster."

Scalability is just one of the advantages of MSC.Linux, enabling Fiat CRF to further increase performance by the addition of more central processing units (CPUs) to the cluster. The initial 24 CPU cluster is slated to significantly increase in the near future.
