NPI and P2PWG to cooperate
San Jose 09 July 2001 The New Productivity Initiative (NPi), and the Peer-to-Peer Working Group (P2PWG), both established fourth quarter of 2000, will become members of each other's respective organizations as a result of a collaboration agreement between the two organisations.
>The move to offer joint membership is seen as an important step forward for both groups, as each has complementary goals. NPi is working to create a standard for DRM and the P2PWG is fostering best practices for the advancement and development of interoperability in peer-to-peer computing.
"NPi and the P2P Working Group are naturally complementary," states Brian Morrow, Chair of the P2PWG. NPI is making an important contribution in the development of a standard for DRM. With their participation in the P2PWG, the group can benefit directly from their work." NPI will provide to the P2PWG an understanding of many of the requirements of P2P developers.
