Platform and Synopsys form alliance
Mountain View 11 July 2001 Synopsys and Platform formed an alliance to advance simulation farm technology by enhancing
integration between Synopsys' VCS Verilog simulator and Platform Computing's LSF
(Load Sharing Facility) software to increase the ease-of-use and efficiency of
simulation server farms. Simulation server farms allow verification engineers to
use a group of computers (server farm) to run several simulations
simultaneously, thereby increasing simulation throughput by several orders of
magnitude compared to a single computer simulation.
To facilitate closer
cooperation, Platform Computing has joined the Synopsys Platforms Program and
Synopsys has become a member of Platform Computing's Alliance Program. Through
these partnership programs, Synopsys and Platform Computing will incorporate
both products into standard testing to ensure robust compatibility.
Increasingly, engineering teams are turning to server farms as a proven and
reliable solution to achieve massive simulation throughput. VCS is a robust,
high performance Verilog simulator designed to take advantage of a distributed
computing environment. Platform Computing's LSF has been a leader in providing
the infrastructure for managing the workload within server farms. The
combination of VCS and LSF enables engineering teams to achieve high simulation
throughput, allowing them to meet demanding verification and quality
requirements.
As a result of joint efforts between the two companies, Platform's LSF version
4.1 operates seamlessly with Synopsys' VCS Verilog Simulator. Synopsys will also
continue to gain advance notice of enhancements to Platform Computing's LSF
technology and adapt VCS to take full advantage of these enhancements. This
cooperation will allow for a more integrated and robust simulation server farm
environment for designers.
