Min Bimbangal Productions to purchase virtual studio

Amsterdam 14 September 2001 Min Bimbangal Productions (MPPL), an India production house, has purchased a virtual studio from vi[z]rt. The system is installed in a custom-built facility in Chennai and will be used in the production of talk shows, current affairs and music programmes.

Currently the company produces around two hours of programming a day. With the installation of the virtual studio, MPPL intends to increase its daily output to six hours. It sees the virtual studio capability as its entry into national television, in line with its aim of becoming the leading content provider for the Indian television industry.

Mr. B. Kailasam, founder and CEO of Min Bimbangal Productions, commented: "We have a number of firsts to our name since our launch in 1988, but installing a virtual studio is one of the most significant. It opens the door to greater creativity for an increasingly sophisticated audience. Since the advent of satellite TV, India has been waiting for home-grown productions to match the international offerings. We believe that we can now achieve this economically and quickly."

Greg Petroff, VP marketing for vi[z]rt, added: "Clearly the level of programming envisaged by Min Bimbangal Productions requires the power of the Onyx system, and we are delighted to be supplying this most ambitious production company with the means to achieve their aspirations. India is one of the biggest untapped markets in the world, and we believe our systems are ideal to provide the unique look and feel of the country."
