Petapeer Holdings announces first revenue generation

New York 25 September 2001 Petapeer Holdings, a developer of peer-to-peer (P2P) technologies, has transitioned from start-up phase and has recorded its first revenues from commercial operations. The company reported that it has begun to generate advertising revenues from its Web site, which offers its popular Gnotella software for download.

Gnotella is currently in its 20th week on C/Net's "Most Popular" list of downloaded software. Users in 130 countries on five continents have downloaded Gnotella; the software recently surpassed 4.4 million downloads.

This launch follows the company's May 30, 2001 announcement of its development of a new proprietary technology to implement systems and methods for bolstering the Gnutella Network while simultaneously generating revenue for the company. A provisional patent application was filed at that time in support of the new technology, which Petapeer continues to develop and will deploy upon completion.

Developed by Shaun Sidwall, Gnotella is a free distributed real time search and file sharing programme that permits users to search for and share files of any type through the Gnutella Network. Fully customisable, Gnotella offers both the novice and the advanced user an intuitive, user-friendly and powerful tool for sharing data.

Petapeer Holdings Inc. identifies and commercialises market-ready peer-to-peer (P2P) technologies. Its first licensed technology, Gnotella, is an application of the open Gnutella Network that allows users to quickly and accurately search and share files anytime, anywhere with anyone in the network. Created for Windows, users can download any type of file, including text, audio, video, spreadsheets, word processing, software and more, through the Gnutella Network.
