Platform continues to post profit
Toronto 11 October 2001 Platform Computing announced record revenue for
fiscal year 2001 ended July 31, 2001. Total revenue grew by 34% to US$46.2
million, marking the company's ninth consecutive fiscal year of profitable
growth.
Platform's revenue growth was spurred by increasing global market demand for
cost-effective solutions that allow organisations to share the power of
enterprise-wide distributed computing resources, reducing IT costs and improving
return on investment. This growth was directly based on the company's
distributed computing solutions for Distributed Resource Management (DRM), Grid
Computing and Compute Farms.
At July 31, 2001, Platform had increased its global workforce to 400 and opened
two new offices in New York City and Tokyo, Japan to better serve its growing
customer base in those markets, particularly in the financial services sector.
In fiscal year 2001, Platform re-invested more than 24% of its revenue and
directed 135 employees to distributed computing research and development.
