Siemens Nuclear Power installed a 16 node, 16 Intel Pentium III processors, hpcLine system for fluid mechanics using Computational Dynamics' STAR-HPC. This integrated cluster system with a high-speed interconnect - system area network - runs Linux.
BASF AG received a hpcLine system with 32 processors running the applications FLUENT and COMET.
These installations demonstrate the trend - also in industry - to cost-effective cluster solutions based on standard Intel processors and Linux as operating system. Fujitsu Siemens offering of the hpcLine is an integrated solution with support.
