News from Scali
Karlsruhe 02 May 2001 As usual during the SAVE meeting, Hakon O. Bugge, Scali, presents news from their interconnectivity area, new versions of their middleware - ScaMPI.
Scali, founded 1997 in Norway, has now about 25 employees and more than 50 customers. Its aim is the middleware and management software for scalable systems.
On February 8, 2001, the new release SSP 2.1.1 was delivered, which supports:
- Red Hat 7 and SuSE 7.0
- Etnus TotalView debugger and Open PBS queue system
- suspend/resume in ScaMPI
- improved installation
- Large File System (LSF)
One month later, on March 23, 2001, the next release 2.1.2 was offered with:
- support for ServerWorks chipset
- support D33x series SCI adapter
- extraordinary high performance
- evaluation support for Itanium
- HPF (High-Performance Fortran) support through PGI (Portlad Group)
Scali signed a significant contract with PGS (Petroleum Geo Services) to offer solutions for on- and off-shore seismic processing. It opened a US Branch Office in Houston, other offices will follow.
Dolphin's D335 SCI adapter card has a peak transfer rate of 2.6 GB/s. A directly write and read into the memory of another node was measured 1 KB in 20 microseconds ping-pong.
