| | UC San Diego scientists create computational method to shorten time to develop new drugs
A new computational technique developed by researchers at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), and reported in the May 22 Journal of the American Chemical Society provides a more realistic picture of how potential drugs and their molecular targets behave under normal conditions. The method models drug targets as flexible structures that stretch and bend at room temperatures rather than as rigid objects. The new approach is also much faster than laboratory methods and should complement them in shortening the time it takes to develop potent new drugs.
