HPC Consortium meets in Glasgow
Palo Alto 10 May 2002 The HPC Consortium meeting will be organised in Glasgow, Scotland on July 19-20, 2002 for those who use Sun solutions for Scientific and Engineering Computing.
This meeting precedes the 5th conference of the Global Grid Forum (GGF5) and will present the latest in scientific and engineering applications, computing and data infrastructures, and data visualisation in addition to presentations about Sun's current and future directions.
There are lots of exciting changes coming for the Consortium. First, it is continuing its transition to an independent, user driven body. Last year, the steering committee was organised.
The next big change is to start moving the Consortium to being self funding. The steering committee has decided not to require a membership fee, but rather has set a nominal conference fee of $199 US for the Glasgow meeting. Sun will continue to fund the majority of the cost.
