C-DAC signs MoU with IICT
Hyderabad 15 May 2002 The Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Hyderabad, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT), Hyderabad for co-operation in the area of Bioinformatics, recently.
As per the MoU, C-DAC will offer its expertise in providing training in the area of design of databases, XML, GIS, Data warehousing, data mining, parallel programming for Bioinformatics for the Continuing Education Programme (CEP) course in Bioinformatics organised by IICT.
C-DAC's expertise in High Performance Computing and the PARAM supercomputer will be utilised in the development of advanced forecasting models using data mining concepts to predict the outbreak of vector borne diseases like Malaria, Filaria, JE and others in the areas of public health control. Various studies of vector Biology like classification of mosquito species and cluster analysis of endemic zones will also be covered as part of this.
C-DAC and IICT have also agreed to work jointly in the area of Decision Support Systems involving GIS based solutions for epidemiological zones, vector breeding places and probable outbreak zones.
Dr. N. Sarat Chandra Babu, Programme Co-ordinator, C-DAC Hyderabad and Dr. K. V. Raghavan, Director, IICT signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organisations.
