The European DataGrid crosses the barrier of 1000 CPUs
Santiago de Compostela 12 February 2003 At the beginning of 2003, the European DataGrid (EDG) testbed has surpassed the barrier of 1000 CPUs. Currently the EDG software manages more than 15 Tbytes of storage and 1075 CPUs on a single testbed distributed over 12 computing centres in five European countries. With these numbers, the EDG software starts demonstrating it can scale to solve real problems on real production infrastructures.
DataGrid is a project funded by European Union that is building the next generation computing infrastructure providing intensive computation and analysis of shared large-scale databases, from hundreds of TeraBytes to PetaBytes, across widely distributed scientific communities in Europe.
