Faster Power 4+ processors for Research Center Jülich
Munich 23 May 2003 On May 6, IBM announced the faster Power 4+ processors with a 1,7 GHz clock. These processors will be available in June and will be installed in the new part of IBM's delivery in July 2003. Additionally ZAM (Central Institute of Applied Mathematics), Research Center Jülich, announced a colloquium on parallel processing: "Efficient parallel Algorithms", in German.
ZAM announced that the next 6 Regattas, p690+, will be equipped with the new Power 4+ processor, 1,7 GHz instead of 1,3 GHz. This results in an improvement of 30%. Thus this part of the new system, which will go into production in July 2003, will have a peak performance of more than 1,3 TFlop/s instead of 1 TFlop/s.
On June 2nd 2003 ZAM organises the 21st colloquium on parallel processing in scientific and technical applications. The theme is "Efficient parallel Algorithms" - in German. Actual developments in methods and algorithms for the efficient usage of parallel computers will be presented.
The detailed programme and further information on the colloquium series can be found at http://www.fz.juelich.de/zam/pkoll.
