As part of the agreement, SGI and PCS will focus on solutions that will cater to market segments such as sciences, manufacturing, media and banking. Both organisations have significant expertise in these industry segments and this alliance will enhance the availability of best-of-breed technology and products to customers in these areas.

Under the agreement, SGI will leverage PCS's extensive geographic network within the country spanning more than 20 cities and its expertise in handling customer engagements across specialized vertical businesses.

PCS will gain access to advanced technology and products from SGI's portfolio of offerings like the SGI Altix family of servers, which includes one of the fastest Linux OS-based servers in the world. The Altix system has also consistently set numerous records for sheer performance, and for its ability to efficiently run engineering and scientific applications across hundreds of processors in a Linux operating environment.

SGI's product portfolio also includes storage solutions - SGI InfiniteStorage - which offers the industry's most scalable data management solutions. InfiniteStorage features leading edge technology developed in-house by the company known as SGI InfiniteStorage Shared Filesystem CXFS - an industry leading shared file system, and SGI Data Migration Facility (DMF) - an industry leading hierarchical storage management (HSM) solution.

As part of the agreement, SGI will enable PCS's experienced resource pool with technical expertise and enhanced skill sets through specialized training on SGI® products and solutions. The SGI product portfolio will enhance PCS's bandwidth to offer world-class solutions to customers looking to increase profitability, while at the same time lowering total cost of ownership.
