The advantages of a combined Time Navigator and CentricStor solution include:

  • Open architecture for maximum integration flexibility
  • Protection of investment
  • Dramatic cost savings through consolidation and reduced administration effort
  • Improved utilization of existing peripherals
  • Advanced disk-to-disk-to-tape back-up capabilities (D2D2T)
  • High performance data protection and uninterrupted data availability

"CentricStor is an outstanding Virtual Tape Appliance with the most comprehensive support in heterogeneous environments", stated Bas Broekarts, Atempo's vice president of global sales. "Large Data Centers will be able to deliver first class data protection services with consolidation of a wide variety of tape storage resources. At the same time, CentricStor together with Time Navigator delivers high performance disk-to-disk-to-tape back-up (D2D2T) with integrated ILM (Information Lifecycle Management) functions."

"Time Navigator offers key functions which are essential for Atempo's customers and is one of the most sophisticated backup and restore product. Time Navigator together with CentricStor leads to a powerful data protection with a well managed rapid and accurate data restoration", stated Dr. Helmut Beck, vice president of storage at Fujitsu Siemens Computers. "With the certification of Atempo's Time Navigator we step further with seamless integration of all popular back-up/restore applications."

In the common test laboratory in Brussels the certification was jointly approved in close relationship between Fujitsu Siemens Computers and Atempo. Time Navigator was linked with CentricStor in an open systems environment within a Storage Area Network.

CentricStor is the name of Fujitsu Siemens Computers' virtual tape appliance used to consolidate magnetic tape processing in open system and mainframe environments. CentricStor as a fail-save disaster protection solution combines the speed of disk with tape reliability for Disk-to-Disk-to-Tape backup with integrated ILM-functions (Information Lifecycle Management). CentricStor supports market leading back-up applications, major system platforms and major tape automation environments. Many satisfied customers in Europe are already using CentricStor for data protection and Nearline storage consolidation. The powerful virtual tape appliance is also successfully introduced in Japan, the United States and since November 2004 in Southeast Asia.

Atempo's flagship product, Time Navigator, a highly scalable and feature-rich software product offers performance and features grouped around today's more complex enterprise challenges including disaster recovery, compliance, security and rapid data growth. Atempo's customers include Airbus, Capgemini, CrÈdit Agricole, Orange, France Telecom, Novartis, Renault and Virgin.net.
